 Did you know.....

English Freemasonry is one of the largest singular sources of donors to charity and good causes after the various National Lotteries.

Freemasonry and Charity

Charity is at the heart of Freemasonry and is based on three principals - Brotherly Love - Relief and Truth. Charitable donations are made at all levels, from individual Lodges, Provinces and Grand Lodge itself through the Grand Charity.

From it's earliest days Freemasonry has been involved with Charities helping the sick and dying and orphaned children. It is divided into two main categories. Masonic Charity - To provide assistance to Brethren in time of need and Non Masonic charity - To provide aid to society in general.

Since the formation of Purley Lodge in 1906 we have supported Trinity Hospice based in Clapham South West London.

More recently a cheque for £5,000 was presented to the Provincial Grand Master at the Lodge Centenary meeting on 25th March 2006 for the 2008 Festival for the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys.
